About Me

Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Katrina Maddox is what the industry folks call a unicorn. It is rare to find someone who is truly from Nashville and working in the music industry.

In 2003 Katrina began her college journey at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN initially leaning towards a career in psychology and social work. Like many college freshmen, she quickly realized this was not the path for her and redirected her attention to business. Her ultimate goal was to work in the music industry in Nashville. Throughout college, she held a part-time position as a customer service representative at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, as well as a slightly less glamorous position as receptionist at the local hair salon.

Early Days at Opry

In 2007, she received a B.B.A in Business Management from MTSU, and about two weeks prior to graduation she caught wind of an opening at the Grand Ole Opry as Marketing and Sales Assistant for which she quickly applied and was ultimately offered the position. This was the perfect role for any college graduate who was uncertain of which direction to take. It allowed her get her feet wet in many facets of Marketing and Sales, gain valuable experience, and build priceless relationships. It wasn’t long before Katrina was shown the direction she was meant to take. It was the beginning of the social media boom for brands, and the Opry only had a MySpace page and YouTube channel.

Katrina jumped in head first and helped build the Grand Ole Opry’s first Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and eventually Snapchat accounts. She also took over the email marketing program and built a strategy there. Eventually she was named Digital Marketing Manager and over the next eight years would advance in the company until she was overseeing the digital marketing efforts for all brands under the Opry Entertainment umbrella as Director of Acquisition Marketing and Audience Development. She helped the Opry’s social following grow from zero to 100,000 to over 1,000,000. At the end of her tenure at Opry Entertainment, she had grown a digital audience for their family of brands of over 7 million.
